And the Lord hardened Pharaohs heart......

So many stubborn situations surround us, ever relenting situations that consume us entirely. We wonder, 'how can I struggle with this same thing for so long?'. We feel as though we are fighting a losing battle, and our hope is little to none existent.

These stubborn 'Pharaohs' can take the form and shape of anything and anyone at any time, and yet they are consistent in their aim to refuse us freedom from their bondage. They are designed to keep us in slavery where God has declared us free.

Yes some of us have prayed, fasted, come to think of it, there is nothing we haven't done in attempt to free ourselves, and yet they have remained just as stubborn, a thorn in our sides that refuses to be removed.

But have we ever......?

Have we ever stopped to think that perhaps, just maybe, God has hardened their hearts for the purpose of His glory? I mean, isn't it possible that God has enabled them to be more than impossible just so that He could get an opportunity to show off His strength and ability? Well, He did with Pharaoh, He hardened his heart despite all the plagues He brought upon them, despite all the advice from his counsel.

An ordinary man would never stand, yet alone try to go against a God as powerful as the one who had brought upon him and his people all sorts of plagues, and yet Pharaoh stood harder than a rock. All because God Himself made him that way, for a purpose. A purpose that wasn't apparent at first because there was just no sense in his behavior. There couldn't be any, his behaviour was just not normal, infact it was supernatural.

The audacity to chase them through the wilderness even after losing all their first borns? Definitely not normal. It was all Gods doing.

So that.....He could get an opportunity

- to exercise His power,

- to show the lengths He is willing and able to go to free His people,

- to show that no one can duplicate His strength nor ability,

- for His glory to be seen ,

- for His enemies to be aware that He fights for us and He goes before us

So before we give up, before we give in. Let us consider the odds, that God might just be hardening the situation so that He can demonstrate Himself without any limits. Think of it as a well structured opportunity for God to 'show off'.

Remember that all situations still bow to our God, they are still under His power and His control, even the stubborn ones.

Be blessed.
